Joined by The Original Wailers and Trojan Sound System, the English band will headline Reggae Night at the World Tennis League.
Tennis fans, listen up — the World Tennis League is gearing up to return for its second season, this time taking over Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi from 21 to 24 December 2023. For the uninitiated, the event combines the world's top professional tennis players in an engaging team-driven format alongside electrifying concerts, culminating into what has been dubbed 'The Greatest Show on Court'.
As for who's taking the stage this year? UB40, The Original Wailers, and Trojan Sound System are the first artists announced for this year's edition, with the bands performing in a special Reggae Night concert on Saturday, 23 December. Trojan Sound System – the legendary party starters famous for remixing flavours from the past 40 years – will kick things off, followed by The Original Wailers featuring Al Anderson, the sole member of the Bob Marley and The Wailers mid-1970s line-up. Anderson, selected by reggae legend Bob Marley as his lead guitarist, rose to fame thanks to his stunning lead work on classics such as "No Woman, No Cry" and "3 O'Clock Roadblock", which first alerted rock fans to the group's discography.
UB40, featuring lead singer and founder Ali Campbell, will close out the evening by performing smash-hit singles like "Red Red Wine" and "Falling in Love with You". As a founding member of the British band that has sold over 70 million records worldwide, Campbell will perform alongside the current members of UB40 as part of its ongoing global tour.
"We're thrilled to announce UB40, The Original Wailers, and The Trojan Sound System as our first artists set to headline the evening concerts of World Tennis League this December," says Rajesh Banga, Chairman of World Tennis League. "This unique blend of world-class international acts will feature as part of our Reggae Night, bringing their iconic hits to light up Abu Dhabi's Etihad Arena. It promises to be an amazing spectacle, and we encourage our fans to book their tickets now to experience the 'Greatest Show on Court'."
Organisers have confirmed that more international artists will be announced in the coming weeks, along with the full roster of tennis players set to take to the court at Etihad Arena. Tickets are now available via the Etihad Arena website as well as Platinumlist and Virgin Megastores, with prices starting from AED 225.
