The exhibition arrives in the UAE this summer, transforming Manarat Al Saadiyat into an immersive celebration of the Japanese animation studio.
If there is one thing the UAE knows how to deliver, it is entertainment, and the capital is once again in the spotlight. Abu Dhabi is rolling out the red carpet for The World of Studio Ghibli exhibition, which will be held in the Middle East for the very first time.
Opening on 30 May 2026 and running until 20 August 2026, The World of Studio Ghibli will take over Manarat Al Saadiyat, bringing to life the fantastical worlds created by Japan’s legendary animation house. Designed as a fully immersive journey, it invites visitors of all ages to experience the studio’s storytelling up close.
Spanning 16 galleries, the exhibition explores almost four decades of Studio Ghibli’s craft, from its earliest works to its most beloved modern classics. You will be able to step into scenes inspired by films such as My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle. Large-scale theatrical sets and interactive box art pieces reveal the layers of artistry behind each film, from background paintings to character design. Every room is created to highlight the quiet details that make Ghibli films so enduring.
True to the spirit of the studio, the experience is playful, imaginative and filled with moments that invite you to feel part of the story. Expect whimsical installations, photo-friendly corners and touchpoints that will resonate with both long-term fans and newcomers discovering the films for the first time.

There will also be a dedicated retail space where visitors can shop a curated selection of exclusive Studio Ghibli merchandise, from collectables and homeware to gifts that bring a little piece of the fantasy world back home.
Founded in 1985 by filmmakers Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki, along with producer Toshio Suzuki, Studio Ghibli has helped shape global animation through its hand-drawn aesthetic and emotionally rich worlds. Over the years, its films have received international acclaim and award recognition, including seven Academy Award nominations.
The World of Studio Ghibli exhibition first launched in Japan in 2013 and has since travelled to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore. Now, it is finally making its way to Abu Dhabi, adding a new highlight to the capital’s growing calendar of world-class cultural events.
Tickets to The World of Studio Ghibli exhibition in Abu Dhabi go live on 8 December and start at AED 125, so early booking is recommended.
