The exhibition will offer an opportunity to explore Pablo Picasso’s artistic evolution at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Louvre Abu Dhabi consistently keeps things exciting with new exhibitions. And this time around, they’re bringing Picasso, the Figure, to the capital.
Taking place at Louvre Abu Dhabi from 21 January to 31 May 2026, Picasso, the Figure is a landmark exhibition that offers an opportunity to explore the artistic evolution of Pablo Picasso.
Presented in collaboration with Musée national Picasso-Paris and France Museums, Picasso, the Figure traces the artist’s lifelong engagement with the human figure — reinventing it throughout his seven-decade career.

Rather than focusing on a single period or style, the exhibition unfolds chronologically, revealing how Picasso’s “treatment of figuration” evolved from early Cubist experiments to classical portraits, Surrealist explorations, and free, expressive works from his later years. It spans painting, sculpture, drawing, and ceramics, demonstrating how the artist continuously challenged and reshaped the idea of representation. The showcase displays Picasso’s transformations with broader mythological and emotional themes.
You will get to see more than 130 artworks that reveal the many faces of Picasso’s art. Some pieces expected to be on display include Woman with a Mandolin (1911), Portrait of a Seated Woman (1923), and Woman Sitting in Front of the Window (1937). In addition to these, the exhibition will also highlight works by key Arab modernists whose engagement with Picasso’s legacy expands the conversation.

By placing Picasso’s experimentation in conversation with artists from the Arab world, Picasso, the Figure offers a fresh, global perspective on how artists interpret the human form and its many emotional, political, and cultural meanings. So whether you’re a seasoned follower of modern art or someone discovering Picasso for the first time, this exhibition is a must-see. Plus, it’s perfect for all ages, giving you a fun way to explore art.
