BRED Abu Dhabi, the Middle East’s neo-culture festival, is returning to Yas Island. Running from 24 to 28 April, it showcases the region’s art, fashion and music. The line-up includes global fashion brands, street food stalls and performances by grime and hip-hop artists.
BRED Abu Dhabi is produced by Brag, in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, and presented by Hypebeast. The festival first started in 2023, and is now in its second edition. If you’re wondering what neo-culture is, it’s all about the intermingling of separate cultures to create a new one. The event aims to bring together A-list international artists, regional talent, streetwear stalls, curated art, interactive experiences, and international as well as local food.
This year’s BRED Abu Dhabi has been announced with the release of the documentary, It’s Our Time. Created by Palestinian director Ashraf Dowani, it follows artists who embody neo-culture across the Middle East. The film is available to watch on the brand’s social channels, and gives visitors a teaser of what to expect at the event.
It’s Our Time includes six cool, contemporary artists. British Lebanese DJ Saliah fuses music from different cultures. Emirati rapper and producer Saud G aims to change the way hip-hop is portrayed in the Middle East. Ahmad Makari is an art curator who collaborates with photographers to graffiti artists. Tunisian fashion designer Midos draws inspiration from Tunisian life. Creative director Tareq Qaddumi works across art, fashion, music and sport. Plus, Welsh Emirati photographer Zayed Al Haddar chronicles street life in Abu Dhabi.
BRED – named after the idiom 'born and bred' – is designed to be a celebration of the region's urban scene. We're told that visitors can expect a packed agenda of performances by regional and international artists, a curated retail experience featuring designs by global streetwear brands, popular street food concepts from across the region, gaming, basketball showdowns, and immersive art displays.
