As the tournament leaves Saudi for the first time, it takes place on 8 and 11 April.

Abu Dhabi, get ready for a sporting spectacle. The Saudi Super Cup is leaving the Kingdom for the first time, and takes place on 8 and 11 April in the UAE capital. Plus, it’s a chance to catch footballing legends, from Cristiano Rolando to Karim Benzema.

The three-match tournament kicks off on 8 April. The first match sees Al-Ittihad Club take on Al Wehda FC at Al-Nahyan Stadium, and takes place at 9pm. The second match sees Al Hilal SFC take on Al-Nassr FC at the Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium, and takes place at 11.30pm. The winners of both matches will then join the final on 11 April.

The idea for a cup tournament dates back to the 1970s. It wasn’t until 2013, however, that the Saudi Arabian Football Association (SAFF) started the Saudi Super Cup. Now, in its eleventh edition, it showcases the best of the Kingdom’s club football. The matches welcome some of the biggest players in the world. Ronaldo plays for Al Nassr, and Benzema plays for Al-Ittihad Club. Plus, it also features regional talent, from Salem Al Dawsari to Abderrazak Hamdallah.

The Saudi Super Cup should coincide with the Eid Al Fitr public holiday, which means visitors can the most of the time off and visit Abu Dhabi. Saudi Arabia also recently announced that it will be launching the first professional baseball league in the Middle East. Plus, it is working on the new racing track, Speed Park Track, in Qiddiya City.
