Surf Abu Dhabi continues to make waves.
Surf Abu Dhabi is already making waves. Located on Hudayriyat Island, the venue is home to the world’s largest artificial wave park, velodrome and a range of restaurants. Now, it is set to host the UAE’s first pro surfing event, The Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic, for the second year in a row. The competition takes place from 24 to 26 October and is free to attend.
The Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic see the world’s top male and female longboarders compete for crucial rankings in the race for the 2025 world title. Reigning champions Steven Sawyer of South Africa and Alison Lemoigne of France are back to defend their crowns, lining up alongside a star roster that includes five-time and current world champion Taylor Jensen.

The action will be staged at Surf Abu Dhabi on Hudayriyat Island, a venue that blends competition-grade waves with spectator-friendly vantage points. Expect nine hours of surfing each day and a vibrant village around the lagoon. Rooftop viewing decks frame panoramic skyline views of the UAE’s first pro surfing event, while live music, interactive activations, and a buzzing food hub serve local and international flavours.
This year, the energy extends beyond the water. One of the surf scene’s most beloved musicians, Donavon Frankenreiter, will headline a feel-good live concert that keeps the vibe high after the final horn.
For a more elevated day out, a hospitality package grants access to NALU restaurant and its pool. Guests can switch between heats, a swim, great food, and the live entertainment program at their own pace, all in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.

The Surf Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic is the third stop of the 2025 WSL Longboard Tour Championship Series, following Huntington Beach in California and Bells Beach in Australia, before the season finale in Surf City, El Salvador.
