The Emirati astronaut splashed down in Florida earlier this morning.
UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi has made a triumphant return to Earth after a groundbreaking six-month mission aboard the International Space Station. The successful splashdown of the SpaceX Dragon capsule marked the end of an extraordinary journey that captivated the world's attention, also making history as the Arab region's first extended space mission.
Sultan and his fellow space adventurers made quite the grand entrance, splashing down in the Atlantic Ocean off the Florida coast at around 8.19am — UAE time — this morning. After the 17-hour space ride, Sultan and the other astronauts were escorted out by the SpaceX crew. Now, he's off to NASA to meet his family. But before they can have a heartwarming reunion, Sultan will be undergoing some medical tests to make sure he's in great health after the 184-day mission in space.

He wrote: "The people of the UAE are immensely proud of you and the entire team for achieving major advances in space exploration. You carried the dreams of a nation to new frontiers, and we celebrate your pioneering journey and safe return."
