Catch the comedian on Thursday, 23 May.

Abu Dhabi, it’s time to have a laugh. The inaugural Abu Dhabi Comedy Week will take place from 18 to 26 May. Now, it is set to welcome the comedy superstar Dave Chappelle. The American comedian has joined the line-up and will perform on Thursday, 23 May, at Etihad Arena. 

Dave hails from Washington DC, United States. He grew up in Maryland, and was inspired by the comedians Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor. He created and starred in the satirical show, Chappelle’s Show. He also starred and produced Dave Chapelle’s Block Party. He has appeared in the films A Star is BornRobin Hood: Men in Tights, and The Nutty Professor. 

Over his career, he has won six Emmy Awards and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour. On Netflix, viewers can catch his comedy specials Dave Chappelle: Sticks & StonesThe Closer and The Dreamer. Plus, 8:46 was released after the murder of George Floyd, and explores violence against African Americans. 

Abu Dhabi Comedy Week is putting together a star-studded line-up. American actor and comedian Aziz Ansari, who starred in the TV show Parks and Recreation, will perform on 18 May. American actor and comedian Chris Tucker, famous for his role in the Rush Hour franchise, will perform on 25 May. Plus, the line-up includes Andrew Schulz on 18 May, and Tom Segura on 25 May. This is the first time Dave Chappelle has performed in Abu Dhabi.

Tickets to see Dave Chappelle in Abu Dhabi are available from 10am on 23 April.
